Transmission repair questions
Straight answers to what drivers ask us most. Something else on your mind? Call (951) 445-8055.
What are the signs of transmission trouble?
Slipping (the engine revs but the car doesn't speed up), harsh or delayed shifts, a clunk when you put it in gear, a burning smell, red fluid under the car, or a check engine light. Catching these early often keeps a fluid service or a smaller repair from turning into a rebuild.
How often should transmission fluid be changed?
Check your owner's manual. Many automatics call for a fluid service somewhere between 30,000 and 60,000 miles under severe conditions like towing, heat and stop-and-go traffic. Some manuals say "lifetime" fluid; heat still breaks fluid down over time.
Do you work on manual transmissions too?
Yes. We diagnose and service automatic and manual transmissions, and the driveline parts around them, like differentials and shifters. We start with a diagnosis and give you a written estimate before any work begins.
Is transmission work covered by a warranty?
Yes. Repairs are backed by our 1-year/12,000-mile warranty, and you get a written estimate before any work begins, so nothing is done without your approval.
